King Consulting is excited to highlight Rob Murray, our Director of Demographics & Planning!

Rob is a top demographer specializing in public school district enrollment projections and the local and regional demographics that impact school district’s facility needs. With 20 years of technical experience and 9 years working with public schools, Rob understands how to translate data into knowledge that helps public school district leaders make effective facilities decisions.

Rob has found his ideal professional life at King Consulting, as it is rewarding for him to apply his technical expertise to assist school districts of every size across California — from remote, rural schools to multi-city districts.

Education History

Rob has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography from Arizona State University; class of 2003.

In 2005, he obtained a Master of Science in Geography from Pennsylvania State University.

Family

Rob is joyfully married to his wife of 11 years, Alex. They have one daughter, Darcy (8), as well as a dog, five cats, and a fish.

Rob's Time at King

Since joining King Consulting in 2014, Rob has continued to refine and build upon his skills. He enjoys providing fresh insights and perspectives to our clients’ leaders and decision makers. Whether it's distilling the big picture into easily understood presentations or diving into the details to answer every question a district has, Rob prides himself on making sure each school district gets what it needs from his work!

Rob has recently made a point of working on creating and updating school district trustee areas, as many districts will need this skillset in 2021, after new Census data is published.

Hobbies / Interests

Rob enjoys trivia and overly-complicated board games. While he waits to get the call from Jeopardy!, he and Alex host a weekly Zoom-based trivia night for their friends.

Passion

Above all, Rob enjoys getting to know each school district with which he works, from demographics to their facility goals, he is able to explain what is happening with their enrollment trends and why. Meeting face-to-face with school boards, executive leadership, and the community is often the highlight of his work.
